About my business

I have established HJT Translations as an unincorporated business operating in Dallas County in Texas to provide translation and proofreading services between the German and American English languages. I am a member of the American Translators Association (ATA).

I can work from Microsoft Office, Libre Office and PDF files. I have SDL Trados Studio as a translation tool. If other tools are needed I will consider making them available.

I am a German native living in the United States since the late 1980s.

I have earned a Ph.D. degree in Natural Sciences from University of Hamburg, Germany, working in experimental nuclear physics. After graduation, I was involved in experiments for high energy particle physics research at various German and American national laboratories and universities.

Since 1996, I am working at a small company on development of equipment for, and applications of, ink-jet technology in a broad range of fields. These range from manufacturing of displays, solar cells, optical elements to medical and biotechnological tests and procedures. My work also includes document writing and proofreading as well as communication with customers worldwide, both pre- and post-sale. Variously, bilingual communications linking between the English speaking personnel at the company and German speaking customers and vendors implies translating in both directions in short order.
